Each store decides what kind of games or whatever they are going to have. To find out exactly is going on you should call the store you are going to go to. Some places are not having a party they are just staying open late.

Crafts like wand making, drawing, or making magic charms

Reading from book 6
Scavenger hunt
Puzzles like crosswords and word searches
Face painting
Fortune telling
Potion making
free stuff. contests. party. blah blah blah. i've never gone to one and don't intend on going to this one. it's dangerous to be out so late for a book. pointless in my opinion. just wait for the morning and get it then.

I've been to two and its generally pretty cool. The fans just kinda mingle around the store or wait in line. The store I go to plays the previous book on tape throughout the store. Then at midnight they start passing out the books to those who have pre-ordered.
Child molesters stay up late.
well i went to barnes and noble at midnight when the last book came out, and they have a lot of harry potter themed games and stuff. sometimes you can win prizes! and there's a lot of people dressed in harry potter costumes lol.
when the book comes out at midnight, you wait in line by the cash register to get the book, they have them on shelves behind the counter.
