Joanne Rowling best known as the inventor of Harry Potter was born on 31st July, 1965 in Yate, Gloucestershire, England. She has a sister, two years younger to her, Dianne. She studied traditional school at St. Michaels. It is said that the head scholar at school was the inspiration for the Harry Potter headmaster, Albus Sumbledore. Even when she was five years old she told stories to her younger sister about rabbit and bees.
Her secondary education took place at Wyedean School and college. She had a flair for literature. After graduating from Wyedean she attended Exeter University and studied French, to take up a occupation as a bilingual secretary. But secretary ship was the last thing she wanted to do.
By the time she was 26 she had suffered the shock of her mother's demise from multiple sclerosis after suffering for about ten years. She then moved to Portugal and taught English. Here she started working on a story about a wizard; she recalls that the idea of a fantasy series came to her while she was on a train journey from Manchester to London.
The fifth book in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series follows the darkest year yet for our young wizard, who finds himself knocked down a peg or three after the events of last year. Somehow, over the summer, gossip (usually traced back to the magic world's newspaper, the Daily Prophet) has turned Harry's tragic and heroic encounter with Voldemort at the Triwizard Tournament into an excuse to ridicule and discount the teen. Even Professor Dumbledore, headmaster of the school, has come under scrutiny by the Ministry of Magic, which refuses to officially acknowledge the terrifying truth that Voldemort is back. Enter a particularly loathsome new character: the toadlike and simpering ("hem, hem") Dolores Umbridge, senior undersecretary to the Minister of Magic, who takes over the vacant position of Defense Against Dark Arts teacher--and in no time manages to become the High Inquisitor of Hogwarts, as well. Life isn't getting any easier for Harry Potter. With an overwhelming course load as the fifth years prepare for their Ordinary Wizarding Levels examinations (O.W.Ls), devastating changes in the Gryffindor Quidditch team lineup, vivid dreams about long hallways and closed doors, and increasing pain in his lightning-shaped scar, Harry's resilience is sorely tested.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, more than any of the four previous novels in the series, is a coming-of-age story. Harry faces the thorny transition into adulthood, when adult heroes are revealed to be fallible, and matters that seemed black-and-white suddenly come out in shades of gray. Gone is the wide-eyed innocent, the whiz kid of Sorcerer's Stone. Here we have an adolescent who's sometimes sullen, often confused (especially about girls), and always self-questioning. Confronting death again, as well as a startling prophecy, Harry ends his year at Hogwarts exhausted and pensive. Readers, on the other hand, will be energized as they enter yet again the long waiting period for the next title in the marvelous, magical series. (Ages 9 and older) --Emilie Coulter
She married a journalist, and after the birth of her daughter within a year her marriage ended in a divorce. She moved on to Scotland, Edinburg along with her daughter.
From now on she was determined to get the Harry Potter wizard novel closed and published. She applied for and received a grant from the Scottish Arts Council to unblemished her novel. Finally when her novel was completed on an old hand-operated typewriter, she sold the proprietary to Bloomsbury U.K. For about 00. Ms. Rowling's happiest occasion came when A Levine books/scholastics press bought the American proprietary to the first Harry potter novel. She could now speak herself and her daughter and write full time.
Recognition came very soon for Ms. Rowling and Harry potter. The first book "Harry potter and the Philosophers stone" won the British book Awards for Children's book of the year and the Nestle smarties book prize. In the U.S the same book was renamed "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone".
The sequels came one after another. In 1998 came "Harry Potter and the accommodation of secrets." A year later came "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban". These three books only made Ms. Rowling a household name. The series topped the top three slots in the Newyork time best sellers list in the U.S.A and U.K.
The fourth book 'Harry potter and the Goblet of fire" came in 2000 and was a record breaker in sales in both the countries
Three years passed and then came the fifth book "Harry potter and the order of the Phoenix". This book was again a record breaker.
The sixth book "Harry potter and the half blood Prince" too broke all sales record in the 2005.
The title of the seventh and final book of the series was released in 2006, "Harry potter and the deadly hallows". The book was release in 2007. It was sold out and a huge success.
She was filmed for a documentary which was aired in Britain on Itv. It was titled "J.K.Rowling... A year in the life". Her books have inspired an interest in reading among children at a time when they prefer Television and computer to books. Critics' are of the conception that the impacts of these books on the children need to be evaluated.
All the books in the series have been filmed and have been a huge success with the audiences of all ages. She has married Neil Michael Murray in 2001 and has two children from this marriage. She has plans to continue writing and a book titled "Political fairy tale for children" is nearing completion.
She has established the volant charitable trust to combat Poverty, public inequalities, one parent families and multiple sclerosis research.
Joanne Rowling, originator of Harry Potter - everything You Need to KnowWell, last night, my daughter dragged me out to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. Actually, she didn't have to do much dragging. I'm a huge fan of the books. But up until now, not such a big fan of the movies, though I did enjoy a few of them with the irregularity of Prisoner. That was just poorly done...period. But what about the newest installment? They took one book and broke it up into two movies. Did they do the right thing? Or could they have come up with someone else epic like Gone With The Wind or Lord Of The Rings? This author is going to give his two cents on the issue.
Let me first say, without giving anyone away, that if they did have to break this movie up into two parts, they couldn't have picked a best place to end it. So kudos to them for that much. But here's the qoute I had with Deathly Hollows, and I think it comes down to Hollywood essentially feeling that it has to milk everything it can out of a franchise.
While the movie, for the most part, was very intense from start to finish, with some great activity scenes, there was way too much filler time. A lot of the sitting nearby and brooding about how miserable life is could have been cut. I could surely see 10 minutes of that movie that could have been left on the cutting room floor. But then, if they had done that, it wouldn't have been long sufficient of a movie to explicate soaking me out of my per ticket. What happened to the good old days when a movie cost .50?
But the bigger issue is, and this is something that my daughter brought up, Hollywood just doesn't feel like people have the attention span to sit straight through a four hour movie anymore. Maybe they're right. Have we reached the point where, if Gone With The Wind or The Ten Commandments had come out now, we would have walked out midway straight through the movie? I'd like to think not. But with Hollywood coming out with its "no more than 2.5 hours of screen time or we'll lose 'em" installments, you have to wonder if we're ever going to get an 800 page book put into one movie again without losing half the plot.
Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the movie, minus about 10 minutes of sitting nearby doing nothing. But I for real would have loved to have seen the way it for real ends without having to wait until next year to do so.
See, some of us Can sit straight through a four hour movie.
To Your Movie Viewing Enjoyment,

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hollows - Should It Have Been One Movie?Harry Potter Chess Sets are a fun way to show your love of Harry Potter!
Ever since the former Harry Potter book came out (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone), the fan base of the Harry Potter series has grown larger and larger. Many of these fans have come to be "rabid fans," or fans that will do just about whatever to get a hold of Harry Potter items.
It is no surprise then, that after Harry Potter Wizard Chess was revealed in the book, and after Harry had to win a life-size Wizard's Chess game in the first book, that fans went nuts to find replica's of the chess sets for their very own home collection.
Seeing this gap in goods, stock creators jumped onto the opportunity, and today we have a large collection of Harry Potter chess sets that we can get for our homes.
These sets range from under to over 0! Obviously, the more you pay for one of these chess sets, the higher quality it will be.
Unfortunately, some greedy manufacturer's are out for nothing but greatest profit, and some of these sets are very low quality and are priced high.
They prey on Harry Potter fan's obsessions with the sets, and payment much more than they are worth.
However, as long as you are a smart shopper, you can avoid this issue.
Remember to always look at the feedback for the model chess set! If there is no feedback available, open a new window and search for the stock in Google to see if you can find any feedback about the set.
Harry Potter Chess sets are a great way to express your love of the series, but remember to always be mindful of where you are buying from. If the victualer doesn't offer any ratings, feedback score or pictures, it should scream Scam to you.
Just be careful, and soon enough you will enjoy a replica Harry Potter Chess Set in your own home that you can show off to all your friends! (Or keep to yourself if you're a closet fan.)
Happy and safe shopping!
Harry Potter Chess Sets - Is a Harry Potter Chess Set Right For You? Avoid the Rip-Offs!Harry Potter has been bewitching children and adults alike for several years now. His courageous friends and malicious enemies have us all emotionally invested in his quest for good. If you've been searching for a fun Halloween theme or a birthday idea Harry Potter and his friends could be the exquisite fit you've been seeing for. Below are tips and suggestions to pull off not only the best Harry Potter party, but the best party you've ever thrown.
Decorations - Don't let this party stress you out, it should be one of the easiest parts. Take a trip to your local party store for inspiration and browse through the different items they have. If you're on a tight funds you'll be able to get great inspiration and create something similar for a much great price. If your funds is a minuscule flexible you'll be able to get centerpieces, table covers, ceiling and wall decorations and ever tableware for the event. Development wands out of tree limbs and letting the kids paint them is great way for them to get complex with the decorating process. You could also let them make their own wizard hats as well with fullness of glitter, sequins and markers. Consuming the guests in every aspect as much as potential is key for their enjoyment.
Food - Some may argue this is the most important part of the party. I don't know if it's most important, but it is one of the most fun ways of incorporating the Harry Potter theme. Here are a few recipes I've tried in the past and they 've worked out great.
Serious Black Cakes
1 Box of Dark Chocolate Cake mix of your choice.
Mini Cupcake Molds
2 Cans of White Frosting
Food coloring and any other cupcake decorations
Bake the cupcakes ahead of time and make sure they have fullness of time to cool. Try and find some fun Harry Potter baking cups. Set out your array of decorations on the table as well as different colors of frosting. Let the kids have fun decorating their own cupcakes. Have some pre-decorated cupcakes in the middle of the table so the kids will have some inspiration.
Norberts Snot
This easy formula is a great way for the kids to enjoy some kool-aid with a twist. I've made it two ways and either way is great.
All you'll need is some koolaid and dry ice. Serve them in a cauldron or a large gold goblet. The other way I serve it is with soda and green sherbet. The kids seem to enjoy the floating snot like ice cream.
Anyway you pick to combine the theme into the food will make the party a bigger hit with children.
Games - I always struggle with this portion. I want to play games that the kids haven't played before and that will keep their attention. Harry Potter is a great theme to combine into games. Here are a few I've tried with success.
Spell Bound
This game is a great way for the kids to observe their creativity and make up fun words. Show a clip from one of the movies, I like one of the early ones when they are learning spells. Then help prompt them to come up with their own spells and powers. They can use their magic wands to cast spells at each other.
Sorting Hat
Kids love customary games of tag and I like reinventing them. Find an old hat that looks similar to the sorting hat and have the kids sit under it. Pretend like the sorting hat is dividing the kids up and throw your own magic twist on it. Once the kids have been sorted let the games begin. You could have a relay where they had to cast spells to get colse to objects or a game of frost tag using their created spells.
I hope some of these ideas will help you when creating your Harry Potter themed party. Above whatever else make sure everyone has a good time including yourself.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Party GuideIt's the Final Book, folks! After ten years, we ultimately come to the grand extravaganza that is The Deathly Hallows by J.K Rowling and boy! was it a ride and then some. Harry is now set to hunt for the Horcruxes and goes with his best friends Ron and Hermione. However, the sudden knowledge of something called 'The Deathly Hallows' causes our hero to re-think Dumbledore's plans on defeating Voldermort. But hold on! What's this about Dumbledore not being all that he's claimed to be? There's a new book out that purports our beloved headmaster as a man with a lot of secrets. Not only that, Professor Snape has even more of a back-story that's bound to shock the reader. In the end, the great battle is fought, all our beloved characters make their return - lives are lost, new ones begin and by the time you're through, you feel you've been there with these characters from the beginning!
I especially liked Harry's amelioration in this book. He's right on matured (even though there are moments of childish whims) but one can see that he has made an endeavor to come to be a better young man. I also liked his relationships with Ron and Hermione and a few other characters in the book. My absolute favorites were the final battle scenes. J.K Rowling did a remarkable job!
I didn't like the sudden deaths of Lupin, Tonks and Fred (well his death was thinkable, but it came as a shock to me all the same). I also didn't like the character amelioration of Ginny Weasley. Her characterization and mannerisms were quite unlike the Ginny we've come to know and seemed quite out of place. Also, the epilogue, I could have done without. I did not see the need for it, and even if J.K Rowling had to use it, I'm sure she could have written it in a much better way. It was quite confusing and made no sense to me as the sudden appearances of new characters created a chaotic finale.
However, I advise this book because it is a finale that was just about done right...there are a few questions that were still left, but J.K Rowling has promised an encyclopedia of sorts to sass them. That I have to pick up once it comes out.
Last but not least, with all the hoopla made about this, all things considered it was a good book and a good way to end things for Harry and his friends. I would have liked to see a few things changed around, but that's just me. right on a must read for all Potter fans who have grown up with him over the years!

Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) suspects Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) to be a new Death Eater recruit on a special mission for the Dark Lord. In the meantime, Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) seems to have finally removed the shroud of secrecy from Harry about the dark path that lies ahead, and instead provides private lessons to get him prepared. It's in these intriguing scenes that the dark past of Tom Riddle (a.k.a. Voldemort) is finally revealed. The actors cast as the different young versions of Riddle (Hero Fiennes-Tiffin and Frank Dillane) do an eerily fantastic job of portraying the villain as a child. While the previous movies' many new characters could be slightly overwhelming, only one new key character is introduced this time: Professor Horace Slughorn (with a spot-on performance by Jim Broadbent). Within his mind he holds a key secret in the battle to defeat the Dark Lord, and Harry is tasked by Dumbledore to uncover a memory about Voldemort's darkest weapon--the Horcrux. Despite the long list of distractions, Harry, Ron (Rupert Grint), and Hermione (Emma Watson) still try to focus on being teenagers, and audiences will enjoy the budding awkward romances. All of the actors have developed nicely, giving their most convincing performances to date.
More dramatic and significant things go down in this movie than any of its predecessors, and the stakes are higher than ever. The creators have been tasked with a practically impossible challenge, as fans of the beloved J.K. Rowling book series desperately want the movies to capture the magic of the books as closely as possible. Alas, the point at which one accepts that these two mediums are very different is the point at which one can truly enjoy these brilliant adaptations. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is no exception: it may be the best film yet. For those who have not read the book, nail-biting entertainment is guaranteed. For those who have, the movie does it justice. The key dramatic scenes, including the cave and the shocking twist in the final chapter, are executed very well. It does a perfect job of setting up the two-part grand finale that is to follow. --Jordan Thompson

Lego Harry Potter ToysThe Harry Potter 7th book, the Deathly Hallows is J K Rowlings beloved of the Potter editions. In her words, it was where the story was always foremost and the ending she had planned for seventeen years. It all started in 1997 with the first book of Potter magic, the Sorcerers Stone. I cant de facto remember life before that can you? I just remember it as being pretty boring.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the 7th book was released on 21 July 2007. In the first 24 hours it sold 15 million copies, beating the 6th book, the Half Blood Prince which only sold a mere 9 million in the first 24 hours!
The first part of the Deathly Hallows will be in cinemas in 2010. It is to be screened in 2 parts, part 2 will be screened the year after in 2011.
In a live chat show, J K Rowling mentioned that she had other titles in mind for the 7th book. Before she decided on the Deathly Hallows, she revealed that she had been inspecting Harry Potter and the Elder Wand and Harry Potter and the Peverell Quest.
It will be a sad day when there are no more Potter movies to be released, but will the wizardry legend ever de facto end? No, of procedure not. If you are like me and have the full set of books, then I am sure you will pass them on through the generations. It would be a shame for a child to have their childhood not filled with the magic of Potter.
Harry Potter 7th BookHarry is deeply traumatized from having witnessed Cedric Diggory's murder, but he will soon find that this was just another chapter in the continuing loss he will endure. Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) has returned and, in an attempt to conceal this catastrophe from the wizarding public, the Ministry of Magic has teamed up with the wizard newspaper The Daily Prophet to smear young Potter and wise Dumbledore (Michael Gambon)--seemingly the only two people in the public eye who believe the Dark Lord has returned. With no one else to stand against the wicked Death Eaters, the Hogwarts headmaster is forced to revive his secret anti-Voldemort society, the Order of the Phoenix. This welcomes back characters like Mad-Eye Moody (Brendan Gleeson), kind Remus Lupin (David Thewlis), fatherly Sirius Black (Gary Oldman), and insidious Severus Snape (Alan Rickman), and introduces a short list of intriguing new faces. In the meantime, a semi-psychotic bureaucrat from the Ministry (brilliantly portrayed by Imelda Staunton) has seized power at Hogwarts, and Harry is forced to form a secret society of his own--lest the other young wizards at his school be left ill-equipped to defend themselves in the looming war between good and evil. In addition, Harry is filled with an inexplicable rage that only his Godfather Sirius seems to be able to understand.
This film, though not as frightening as its predecessor, earns its PG-13 rating mostly because of the ever-darkening tone. As always, the loyal fans of J.K. Rowling's books will suffer huge cuts from the original plot and character developments, but make no mistake: this is a good movie. --Jordan Thompson
In a very formal, yet logical definition, magic wands are considered to be a tool used by magicians and wizards and it reflects dissimilar magical powers, depending on the properties of each particular wand. Most of us connect the word "wand" with a man capable of performing magic trick and spells. In fact, this object is mandatory for most spells that magicians perform. We have established that they remind us of magicians. Now let us see what the word "magician" reminds us of. Most grown-ups will think of Blaine or Copperfield, but amongst youngster, there is no magician more grand than Harry Potter.
It would appear that the length of each wand used in Harry Potter movies and books is directly proportion with the height of the wizard who owns it and since each of these has rather unique properties, only its owner has the right and power to use it. Aspiring wizards are prone to causing severe damage if they use one which comes in conflict with his or her character. This does not mean that wands cannot turn owners. In order for a wand to be used by other character, its devotee must be killed, stunned or disarmed and so the wand will identify the "attacker" as being its new master. Naturally taking it from other wizard's hands is not acceptable.
Harry Potter wands are definitely an accessory that every kid craves for so they can turn teachers into frogs or make objects on the table float. It is a well known fact that in 99% of the cases it is the wand that chooses its wizard, not vice-versa. There are 4 total paramount Harry Potter wands, as follows:
As it turns out, Harry isn't punished at all for his errant wizardry. Instead he is mysteriously rescued from his Muggle neighborhood and whisked off in a triple-decker, violently purple bus to spend the remaining weeks of summer in a friendly inn called the Leaky Cauldron. What Harry has to face as he begins his third year at Hogwarts explains why the officials let him off easily. It seems that Sirius Black--an escaped convict from the prison of Azkaban--is on the loose. Not only that, but he's after Harry Potter. But why? And why do the Dementors, the guards hired to protect him, chill Harry's very heart when others are unaffected? Once again, Rowling has created a mystery that will have children and adults cheering, not to mention standing in line for her next book. Fortunately, there are four more in the works. (Ages 9 and older) --Karin Snelson
• The first was made of holly wood and it measured 11 inches. It is known for being supple and nice and it was broken in December 1997 when it flew from Godric's Hollow. At the core of this wand lies a Phoenix feather.
• The second Harry Potter wand was made from blackthorn, taken by Ron Weasley from a Snatcher back in 1997. Harry used it until 1998, until he obtained wand amount 3.
• The hawthorn wand measured 10 inches and it was taken from Draco Malfoy. This one became Harry's after the Skirmish at Malfoy Manor. At its core lied unicorn hair and Harry used it until he gained proprietary of the Elder Wand.
• Wand amount 4 is probably the most paramount and grand wand Harry Potter ever used. It was made of elder wood and measures 15 inches. He only used it once with the goal of repairing his phoenix wand. After using it, he returned it to Albus Dumbledore's grave.
Although these Harry Potter wands are famous, they are generally some examples of magic tools used in Harry Potter movies and books. There are many other wands made of wood such as chestnut, oak, cherry or willow, wands used by other characters like Ron Weasley, Rubeus Hagrid or Peter Pettigrew.
